NEW YORK - Columbia junior guard Brian Barbour gained a spot on the All-Ivy League first team, the Ivy League office announced Wednesday afternoon.

It is the second Ivy League postseason honor in Barbour's career after he earned honorable mention as a sophomore. Barbour is the second straight Columbia player to earn All-Ivy League first team honors after Noruwa Agho did so in 2011.

The first team nod comes after the Lions' point guard led the Ivy League in assists (5.6 assists per game) and was second in scoring (16.9 points per game) during league games. For the season, Barbour averaged 15.5 points and 4.3 assists in 30 games this season.

Barbour scored in double figures 24 times this season, topped 20 points 10 different times and established new career highs in points and assists in a game.

A tremendous floor general, Barbour's assist to turnover ratio was 1.9 to 1. He also made 90.1 percent of his free throws, which led the Ivy League and currently ranks third in the nation.

Not only was Barbour one of the league's most efficient offensive players, he was an effective defender, often called upon to limit taller guards. Barbour finished second on the team in steals and even grabbed 2.8 rebounds per game in average of 35.6 minutes per game.

Columbia finished the season at 15-15 overall, its second straight season with 15 wins, and will return all five starters from this year's team.
