NEW YORK - Former Columbia men's basketball standout Brian Barbour has signed on to play professionally with the Sheffield Sharks of the British Basketball League.

One of the best players to don the blue and white, Barbour is just one of 10 Lion players to earn All-Ivy League accolades in three seasons. The Alamo, Calif. native ranks ninth on the career scoring list with 1,216 points, second in assists (346) and third in steals (124). In addition, he is the Ivy League's all-time leader in free-throw percentage at a .897 clip.

"I'm thrilled to join the Sheffield Sharks and their organization," Barbour told the Sharks' website. "To be able to continue playing basketball at a high level in Europe has always been a dream of mine and I can't thank them enough for giving me this opportunity. I am looking forward to getting out to Sheffield and getting right to work."
