NEW YORK - Columbia junior guard Brian Barbour was one of 17 New York City-area basketball players recognized on the All-Met teams, it was announced on Thursday.

Barbour gained third team All-Met honors after an outstanding season in which he earned a spot on the All-Ivy League first team. Iona senior guard Scott Machado gained the Haggerty Award as the top player in the metropolitan area, presented by the National Invitation Tournament and the Met Basketball Writers Association.

Barbour hit double figures 24 times this season, topped 20 points 10 different times and established career highs in points and assists in a game.

A tremendous court leader, Barbour's assist to turnover ratio was 1.9 to 1. He converted 90.1 percent of his free throws, which led the Ivy League.
