Binder Captures Ivy League Rookie of the Week Honors
IVY LEAGUE RELEASE
PRINCETON, N.J. – First-year guard Carolyn Binder has been selected as the Ivy League Rookie of the Week, as announced by the conference office Nov. 18.
Binder, who was selected to the Ivy League Honor Roll last week after dropping 28 points in her collegiate debut at LIU Brooklyn, eclipsed the 20-point plateau for the second time in three games, tallying 23 on the road last Friday at Lafayette. Binder was a proficient 5-of-6 from the free throw line, while also connecting on 4-of-8 attempts from long range. Her 10 trifectas made and 18 total field goals paces the Lions offense through the first three contests.
Binder’s stellar start to her collegiate career is highlighted with her conference-best 19.7 points per game. She is also one of only 12 players in the Ancient Eight currently hitting on more than 50 percent of her attempts from the field (.514).
Miwa Tachibana, who recorded a career-high 17 points on 6-of-9 shooting (3-of-4 on 3-pointers) in Friday’s contest was named to the weekly Ivy League Honor Roll.
Binder is the first Lion to be named Ivy League Rookie of the Week since Bailey Ott collected the honor almost exactly one year ago on Nov. 19, 2012.
