BOX SCORE

HANOVER, N.H. - The Lions outlasted Snowstorm Nemo's inclement conditions but were unable to overcome the Big Green Saturday evening as Dartmouth came out on top, 62-52, at Leede Arena.

Columbia (2-17, 0-5) knocked down seven shots from beyond the arc, including a trio of three-pointers by Taylor Ward, and nearly made a second half comeback,  but it was Abbey Schmitt of Dartmouth who led all players with a double-double of 17 points and 12 rebounds.

Dartmouth (6-13, 4-1) shot a blistering 63.6 percent (14-of-22) from the field in the first half, and stayed strong throughout to finish with 52.2 percent (24-of-46). The Lions went 18-of-59 on 30.5 percent shooting on the night, led by Ward and Courtney Bradford, who scored nine points apiece. Bradford fell just shy of a double-double as the junior also grabbed nine boards, matching an additional team-high tying nine rebounds from Amara Mbionwu.

Hot-shooting in the first half lifted Dartmouth to a 33-20 halftime lead, but Columbia got a strong defensive effort and chipped away offensively to cut its deficit to four with 3:25 remaining in the game. Trailing 53-42 at the 6:18 mark, the Lions rallied with a 9-2 run that included four free-throws by Brittany Simmons and ended with a three-pointer by Miwa Tachibana to make it a 55-51 game.

Columbia battled to the final seconds in an attempt to complete the comeback but ultimately came up short.

Overall, the Lions outrebounded the Big Green, grabbing 37 boards to Dartmouth's 34. Each team grabbed nine steals on the night.

Due to the weather conditions of this weekend, Columbia's game vs. Harvard originally rescheduled for tomorrow at 4 p.m. is once again postponed at a date and time yet to be determined.
