Binder Earns Second Ivy League Rookie of the Week Honor
PRINCETON, N.J. – First-year Carolyn Binder has earned her second Ivy League Rookie of the Week honor, as announced by the conference office Monday, Dec. 30.
Binder helped the Lions win their second straight game, going 6-of-12 from the field, including 3-of-6 from 3-point range, for 16 points. The Scarsdale, N.Y. native played a crucial role in Columbia holding off Lehigh’s late charge Saturday, scoring five straight points down the stretch, to ensure an 87-80 victory.
Binder captured Rookie of the Week honors back on Nov. 18 after scoring 23 points on the road at Lafayette. She is the first Lion to received two such awards in a single season since Lauren Dwyer was a four-time recipient in 2007-08.
Sophomore Sara Mead was selected to the Honor Roll, matching Binder’s 16 points, while also pulling down five boards, recording five steaks and dishing out three assists.
Columbia is back in action tonight when it host Bryant at Levien Gym at 7 p.m.
