BOX SCORE

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Columbia women's soccer team played a tightly contested match Saturday afternoon on the road at Harvard, but the Crimson managed to slip in a goal with just five seconds remaining to knock off the Lions, 1-0.

In the early portion of the first half, Columbia controlled primary possession of the ball. Shannon FitzPatrick fired Columbia's first shot in the seventh minute, but Harvard's keeper, Bethany Kanten made the save.

The action shifted to the other end of the field in the final 10 minutes of the half. In the 42nd minute, the Crimson had two header opportunities, but the first went wide and Grace Redmon came up with the save on the second to keep the score a 0-0 when the halftime buzzer sounded.

The second half was a bit more back-and-forth, with the teams trading shots throughout. With the game still knotted 0-0 heading into the final 10 minutes, Alexa Yow fired a shot that Kanten was able to turn away.

As the scoreboard begin to tick down the final seconds, Harvard made one last charge up the field. Redmon began to rush out of the goal to corral the ball, but Brooke Dickens was able to work her way past a Columbia defender and get her head on the ball to put it by the Columbia keeper with enough power to roll into net.

Redmon made six saves in the contest, as Harvard registered 18 total shots in the game. The Lions posted five shots in each half and led the corner kick margin, 4-2.

Columbia ends the 2012 season with a 6-9-1, 2-4-1 record and in fifth place in the Ivy League standings.
