NEW YORK -- Senior defender Lauren Cooke and junior goalkeeper Lillian Klein were honored by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America recently for their outstanding achievements both on the pitch and in the classroom. The duo was named to the NSCAA Scholar All-East Region Second Team.

A consistent force on the pitch throughout her time with the Lions, Cooke was a second-team All-Ivy League selection in 2010. The center back, who was an honorable mention recipient in 2008, flourished in Columbia's new three-back formation this season and again led the team with 1,605 minutes played. The honor is the second in as many seasons for Cooke, who was also named to the NSCAA All-Mid-Atlantic Region second team this year.

Klein put together one of the top seasons by a goalkeeper in Columbia history, ranking near the top nationally in goals-against and save percentage for much of the season. The junior closed out the year with seven shutouts, one shy of the Columbia single-season record, and topped the Ivy League with a 0.76 goals-against average and .852 save percentage
