NEW YORK -- Columbia University women's soccer forward Ashlin Yahr was named the Ivy League Women's Soccer Rookie of the Week, for the week ending Sept. 21. The first-year earns her first-career honor after a tremendous week which saw her score three goals and add two assists.

Yahr was relentless in her attack of opposing defenses over the course of the week, helping the Lions to two convincing victories. Yahr had the first brace of her career against American while adding an assist, then tallied a goal and an assist in a 4-0 win over Stony Brook. The first-year forward is currently tied for the team lead in goals (4) and points (10).

The award is the second for a Columbia player this season, as fellow first-year forward Liz Wicks was named this season's first Ivy League Rookie of the Week on Sept. 8.

Junior forward/midfielder Sophie Reiser also earned Ivy League recognition this week, as her three goals and assist over the weekend grabbed her a spot on the Ivy League Honor Roll.

The Columbia women's soccer team will look to continue its winning ways on Friday, Sept. 26, as it opens up Ivy League play against Cornell. Kickoff from Columbia Soccer Stadium is set for 7 p.m.
