BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- The Columbia women's soccer team went on the road on Monday evening and battled Lehigh scoreless through regulation, but ultimately conceded the game-winning goal in the 98th minute to drop the non-conference tilt, 1-0.
Sophomore Coleen Rizzo led the Lions with three shots in the evenly-played contest that turned after a giveaway by Columbia gave the Mountain Hawks their scoring chance in extra time.
Lehigh Sophie Mayeux got a shot away that was redirected past senior goalie Lillian Klein for her first goal of the year.
After a relatively uneventful first 80 minutes, the Lions had a number of opportunities to close out the match in regulation. Columbia had three corners over a 9:19 span but could not punch in a score.
Klein closed with a pair of saves while her counterpart, Ashley Blanks, also had two stops to record the shutout.
The Lions return to Ivy League action on Friday, Oct. 7 against Penn at Columbia Soccer Stadium at 7 p.m.
