NEW YORK - The Columbia women's soccer team will play its second match in three days Monday when it hosts Lehigh at the Columbia Soccer Stadium. Kick-off is slated for 7 p.m.
The Lions return home after traveling to Providence, R.I. Saturday night where they knocked off Brown to improve to 5-4, 2-0 Ivy League. Columbia's 2-0 victory over the Bears was the fifth shutout this season for goalkeeper Grace Redmon, tops in the Ivy League.
Beverly Leon scored Columbia's second goal Saturday and assisted on Coleen Rizzo's in the 29th minute to bring her season point tally up to 11, fifth-best in the Ancient Eight. Rizzo's goal brings her point tally to eight, which is tied for the sixth in the Ivy League.
After Saturday's games, Columbia, Penn and Princeton are the only three teams without a loss in the Ivy League. Columbia and Penn have matching 5-4 records, while Princeton is 6-3-1.
Lehigh was also in action Saturday, falling to Lafayette, 1-0, on the road. The Mountain Hawks will be the second Patriot League team Columbia has faced this season. Army topped the Lions 3-2 in West Point, N.Y. Sept. 23.
The Mountain Hawks have struggled to score this season, leading to their 1-8 record, including losing all five road matches in 2012. Columbia is 4-1 on its home turf this season.
Murphee Greeley has garnered credit for three of Lehigh's eight goals to lead the team offensively. Ashley Blanks and Ani Nahapetian have split time in net for Lehigh. Blanks has been called on to start seven contests and has a 2.17 goals-against average.
Lehigh won last season's meetings between the two schools, 1-0, in overtime. It was the first victory for the Mountain Hawks in the series since 1993.
