Women’s Soccer Welcomes Dartmouth for Homecoming and Senior Day Saturday
NEW YORK - The Columbia women's soccer team will close out its home slate Saturday when it hosts Dartmouth at 4 p.m. Saturday's game will serve as Senior Day, as well as Homecoming for the Lions. Four Columbia seniors: Isabel King, Monica Jean, Liz Crowe and Lexi Nichols will be acknowledge prior to the game for their contributions to the women's soccer program the last four years.
Columbia will be looking to get back in the win column during conference play, having fallen to Penn and Princeton in its two most recent Ivy League contests. Despite the losses, the Lions remain in the contention for the Ivy League title, with just three games on schedule. Columbia, with six points is in fifth place, but could match second-place Dartmouth with nine points with a win over the Big Green.
Coleen Rizzo has taken over the goal-scoring duties of late for Columbia. The junior forward has scored in four of the last five matches for the Lions and has a team-best 14 points this season. Classmate Beverly Leon has found her stride offensively and is second on the team with 13 points.
Grace Redmon continues to lead the Ivy League with five shutouts this season. The sophomore keeper is second in the Ancient Eight with 59 saves and fourth in save percentage at .808.
Dartmouth similarly has played well on the defensive end this season. Goalkeeper Tatiana Saunders is tied for second in the Ivy League with four shutouts, while posting a .823 save percentage. Her 3.92 saves per game ranks third in the Ivy League.
The solid defensive play has led to a four-match win streak for the Big Green. Dartmouth has defeated Penn and Boston University this past week, each by a score of 2-1.
Dartmouth is led offensively by Chrissy Lozier and Emma Brush. The duo is tied for second in the Ivy League in goals scored with seven. Brush has also accumulated four assists for a team-best 18 points.
Columbia won last season's meeting in Hanover, N.H., 2-1, but Dartmouth leads the all-time series 18-4-4.
