NEW YORK – Beverly Leon was a big time leader for the Columbia women’s soccer team through the 2013 season and her solid contributions, on and off the pitch have earned the senior a number awards and accolades to cap her career. Earlier this month, Leon was named to the 2013 NSCAA Division I All-Region third team. The Wrentham, Mass. native becomes just the sixth Lion to garner the recognition in program history.
Leon also remained a model student-athlete in the classroom this season. With a 3.70 GPA, she joins the selected few receiving NCSAA Scholar All-East Region honors. Leon is the third Columbia student-athlete to receive a second team selection and sixth overall to the list of outstanding individuals.
The two-time All-Ivy League honoree led the Lions in points with a career-high 24 this season. The senior was Columbia’s leader in goals with 9, which stood fourth best in the conference. She tallied three game winners in her final year and added six assists.
