TOWSON, Md. - The Columbia softball team fell by one-run for the third straight game, 3-2, in a to Lehigh in a shortened game on day two of the Towson Invitational. The game was suspended due to darkness after five innings.

The Mountain Hawks (2-1-1) jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning after a throwing error on a bunt single by Rosie Roessel, which moved her to second base. Morgan Decker followed with a base-hit to center to bring in the first run of the ballgame.

Columbia found itself in a jam in the bottom of the third with runners on second and third with no outs. Decker delivered a sac-fly to tack on one insurance run, and a Lions' error allowed another run to score, giving Lehigh a 3-0 advantage.

In the top of the fifth, Kayla Shimoda started Columbia's rally with a leadoff single an error by the Moutain Hawks brought the tying run to the plate. Junior Emily Snodgrass put the Lions on the board with an RBI single to score Shimoda, and Nicole Borchard trimmed the deficit to one after a fly out deep enough to center to plate Emily Caruthers.

However, Columbia's comeback ultimately fell short after Lehigh starting pitcher Emily Bausher induced a ground out before play was halted.

First-year Tessa Kroll made the start, allowing just one earned run in 2.2 innings, and took the decision.

The Lions will look to get over the hump tomorrow when they close out the tournament against Iona at 12:45 and Towson at 3 p.m.
