Softball Set For "Subway Series" at Manhattan Tuesday
NEW YORK – The Columbia softball team is back in the northeast and ready for one final tune-up, a doubleheader at Manhattan on Tuesday, March 26, before Ivy League play begins this weekend.
The Lions and Jaspers split a doubleheader at the Rebel Spring Games on March 20, with Manhattan winning game one, 6-2, and Columbia claiming a 4-3 win in nine innings in the nightcap.
Coming off a snowy weekend in Fort Collins, Colo., where they only played one of a scheduled five games at the CSU Invitational, the Lions enter the twinbill with a 9-9 record. Junior Emily Snodgrass has been on a tear of late and leads the team with a .358 batting average, four homers and 15 RBI. The Lions pitching staff has been superb, boasting a 2.05 ERA as a whole and are led by sophomore Brooke Darling with four wins and 1.41 ERA in 44.2 innings.
Manhattan just returned from a weeklong stint in Kissimmee, Fla. and come into Tuesday with a 7-13 record. Kate Bowen is the Jaspers top threat offensively and in the circle. The versatile junior is hitting .362 with three dingers to go with 14 RBI and has a 4-3 record with a 2.44 ERA.
First pitch of game one is set for 2:30 p.m. Live stats will be available by clicking here.
