Softball Takes On Lehigh in Final Non-Conference Tilts Tuesday
NEW YORK - The Columbia softball team will play its final two non-conference games of the year at Lehigh on Tuesday, April 23. Game one of the doubleheader is slated for a 3 p.m. start.
The Lions (21-21) took the final game of their four-game series at Princeton, 3-2, on Sunday. Sophomore Alix Cook continues to be a model of consistency, recording a hit in all six games last week to raise her average to .364 on the year. Junior Emily Caruthers also reached a milestone in game one against the Tigers, stealing the 28th base of her career to set Columbia's all-time record.
The Mountain Hawks (29-14) are winners of their last six contests, four by shutout. Becca Bliss has tossed three-straight two-hit shutouts and is 16-6 on the year with a 1.64 ERA. Morgan Decker is the team's top offensive threat, hitting .417 with eight dingers and 39 RBI.
Columbia and Lehigh have already faced each other three times this season, with the Mountain Hawks claiming 2-of-3 thus far. However, the Lions won the last meeting, 3-1, on March 15 at the Rebel Spring Games on an Emily Snodgrass three-run blast. Lehigh is 5-2 all-time against the Lions.
