PRINCETON, N.J. - Columbia first-year Alyssa Rodia was named Ivy League Player and Rookie of the Week after helping the Lions go 5-1 last week, including three wins at Cornell to get back into the Ivy League's South Division race.
Rodia hit .526 (10-for-19) at the plate with three home runs, nine RBIs and eight runs scored. She went 7-for-13 in the four-game series with the Big Red as Columbia won three-of-four to stay within striking distance of division leader Penn, who the Lions face this weekend.
For the season, Rodia is tied for the team lead with six home runs, which is a new record for a Columbia first-year.
First-year Shelby Unger was also named to the Ivy League Honor Roll, batting .348 with four doubles and seven RBI in six games.
