NEW YORK- On Tuesday, March 18, the Columbia softball team hosted local rival Manhattan at Columbia Softball Stadium.

Due to inclement weather, Columbia has had six games postponed or cancelled in the last week. The Lions were able to add Manhattan for a late addition game.

Columbia took a two-run lead in the bottom of the third when Emily Snodgrass singled to center field to score Kayla Shimoda who reached on an error. Two batters later, Alyssa Rodia hit a sac bunt to score Alix Cook who was hit by a pitch earlier in the inning.

The Lions held the lead until the Jaspers tied up the game at two in the top of the fifth inning.  Manhattan's Anna Crowley hit a homerun in the top of the third to cut the lead to 2-1, and Emily Cutler scored on a single by Kate Bowen in the top ofthe fifth.

Columbia got the walk off win when Snodgrass sent one down the left field line and Shelby Unger followed up with a hard hit back at the pitcher. Liz Caggiano would loaded the bases after being hit by a pitch. which led to Nicole Borchard's walk off hit to right center to drive in the winning run and give Columbia the 3-2 win.

Tess Kroll, who relieved starter Emily Kenyon, picked up the win.

On the day Snodgrass was 3-for-4 to lead the Lions.

Columbia returns to action on Wendesday, March 19, when they host Lafayette for a 1 p.m. doubleheaders.
