Menís Golf Storms Into First at the Ivy League Championships with Great Second Round

SPRINGFIELD, N.J. – The Columbia men’s golf team shot the third-best round in program history Saturday, posting a 276 to take control of first place at the 2014 Ivy League Championships at Baltusrol Golf Club. The Lions hold an 11-stroke lead on Yale with just one round left to play on Sunday.

Junior Brandon Jowers is just one stroke shy of the individual lead in third place after turning in a one-under 69, with five birdies, Saturday.

First-years Christopher Chu and Tharusyan Pillay made a charge up the leaderboard with career days. Chu matched his career-best round with a two-under 68 to move into a tie for fourth, just two strokes shy of the leaders, while Pillay shot the best round of his rookie year, carding a one-under 69. He heads into the last 18 holes in 8th, four stroke behind the lead.

Sophomore Harrison Shih recorded an even-par 70 round, climbing in the top-10 and ninth, five strokes behind the leaders.

Senior Andrew Kim finished the day with a 78 and will start the final round tied for 22nd.
