Men's Golf Closes in Third Place at The Classic at Shelter Bay
WESTERLY, R.I. -- Junior Michael Yiu and sophomore Andrew Kim each finished tied for fourth individually, and the Columbia men's golf team closed out its fall season with a strong performance at The Classic at Shelter Bay. The Lions finished third out of 15 teams, finishing the tournament at 603. Dartmouth, backed by an opening-round 293, was victorious at 594 over two days.
Yiu fired a one-over par 72 -- a three-stroke improvement on his first-round score -- to close tied for fourth. Kim shot 74 after his first-round 73 to tie with his teammate in the top five.
Sophomore Jordan Lee shaved a stroke off his first-round score to close in a tie for 23rd. Senior Brendan Doyle was three shots behind Lee at 156, while junior Stephen LaRouere shot 165. First-year Brandon Jowers, playing as an individual, tied for 37th at 158.
Princeton's Bernie D'Amato and Dartmouth's Peter Williamson tied for medalist honors at 143, with D'Amato being awarded the championship due to a better second-round score.
