Doyle, Yiu Shoot 1-Under In Final Round As Men's Golf Takes 3rd At Princeton Invitational
Columbia finished the 54-hole event on the par 71, 6,390-yard course with a 288-288-284—860 (+8), just two strokes back of first-place Yale (6-over 858). Columbia and second-place finisher Georgetown each shot even-par 284 in the final round, only to be bested by Yale’s 1-under 283. Dartmouth’s Peter Williamson won the individual title with a 71-70-67—208 (-5).
Doyle was Columbia’s top finisher, tying for fourth place with 68-73-70—211 (-2). He and junior Ford Fischer tied for fourth in the 75-player field with 12 birdies apiece. Doyle played outstanding golf on the par 5s with a tournament-best-tying 4.44 (-5) average. He was also consistent on the par 4s with a 4.00 (E) average.
Fischer also had an impressive tournament, taking seventh place after carding a 74-68-72—214 (+1). Like Doyle, Fischer was at his best on the par 5s (4.56 (-4)) and par 4s (4.06 (+2)).
Yiu’s final round surge gave him a top-15 finish as the junior tied for 11th at 73-74-70—217 (+4). Yiu had a 4.06 (+2) average on the par 4s.
Jordan Lee was consistent through the tournament, shooting 73-73-73—219 (+6) to tie for 21st. That consistency is mirrored in the 36 pars he totaled through 54 holes, which tied him for third in the field. Fellow sophomore Andrew Kim saved his best golf for Sunday, bouncing back from a rough first round to tie for 47th at 80-78-72—230 (+17).
LIONS AT NYU/MANHATTANVILLE SPRING INVITATIONAL
MAMARONECK, N.Y. -- The Lions competing as individulas performed well in the NYU/Manhattanville Spring Invitational at Hampshire Country Club.
Senior Sam Mysock carded an 80-81—161 (+19) to tie for 30th.
Columbia will next compete in the Navy Invitational, held April 21-22 at the Navel Academy Golf Club in Annapolis, Md.
