Menís Golf Surges to Fourth-Place Finish at Princeton Invitational
PRINCETON INVITE RESULTS
PRINCETON, N.J. – The Columbia men’s golf team posted its best round of the Princeton Invitational Sunday to finish in fourth, just nine strokes off tournament champions Yale.
The Lions were buoyed by three top-12 finishers, highlighted by first-year Harrison Shih. The Saddle River, N.J. native carded the best round of the entire tournament for a Columbia golfer, shooting a 68 to catapult from 27th after two rounds, to finish in a tie for fifth.
Senior Ford Fischer recorded his personal best round of the tournament Sunday, shooting a 70 to move up to a tie for seventh after starting the day 19th. The score and finish are both season bests for Fischer.
Sophomore Brandon Jowers claimed a tie for 12th after registering a third-round 77. Andrew Kim also matched his season-best single round score, shooting a 73 on Sunday to finish in a tie for 32nd. Michael Yiu shot his third straight 81 to end the tournament tied for 67th.
Yale won its fourth straight title, and Temple teammates Brandon Matthews and Matthew Teesdale finished as the individual medalists.
Senior Stephen LaRouere was also in action, representing Columbia at the Army Last Chance Classic. LaRouere opened the event with a 76 and then carded an 83 to finish tied for 16th.
Columbia is back in action next weekend, competing at the NC State Invitational. It will be the final regular season tournament of the season for Columbia before the Ivy League Championships on April 26-28 in Owings Mill, Md.
