NICEVILLE, Fla. -- Incoming Columbia men's golfer Brandon Jowers fired back-to-back rounds of 68 to take home the individual title by 11 strokes at the Rocky Bayou Junior Classic on June 16-17. The win was the second straight for Jowers at the event, as he won the championship by seven shots in 2010.

The lone recruit of the upcoming 2011-12 season for head men's golf coach Rich Mueller, Jowers blazed the par-72, 6,551-yard Rocky Bayou Country Club course at four-under par on both days of competition. Jowers was the only player in the field to shoot under par at the 36-hole event.

The Fort Walton Beach, Fla. native is a two-time Northwest Florida Daily News Player of the Year selection and will join seven returning student-athletes for the fall season, which will begin in September.
