NEW YORK – The Columbia men’s golf team heads south to Little Rock, Ark., to compete in the 19th Annual UALR/First Tee Collegiate Classic on Monday and Tuesday at Chenal Country Club.

Arvest Bank will be the presenting sponsor of this year’s 17-team event, which will begin with 9 a.m. (Eatern Time) shotgun starts on both days. The 17-team field also features UALR. Arkansas State, Austin Peay, Belmont, Bowling Green, Eastern Michigan, Illinois State, Louisiana-Monroe, Missouri-Kansas City, Missouri State, Oral Roberts, Sam Houston State, Southeastern Louisiana, Stephen F. Austin, Weber State and Western Kentucky.

The event features a pair of top-100 teams in’s latest rankings in No. 67 Southeastern Louisiana and No. 97 Sam Houston State.

Columbia is coming off a sixth-place showing in the USF Triumph at Pauma Valley on March 12-13 at Pauma Valley Golf Club (Pauma Valley, Calif.). Junior Michael Yiu and first-year Brandon Jowers had the Lions’ best finishes as both tied for 15th at 13-over 226. Jowers competed as an individual.

The Lions have great team depth as they have six golfers with season stroke averages of 75.45 or lower. Yiu leads the team with a 72.77 average and sophomore Andrew Kim ranks second with a 73.54 average. Yiu and Kim have two top-10 finishes each.
