Men's Golf In 12th Entering Final Round of UALR/First Tee Collegiate Classic

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Sophomore Andrew Kim sits tied for 14th and the Columbia men’s golf team is in 12th place following Monday’s first two rounds of the UALR/First Tee Collegiate Classic.

The Lions shot 17-over 305 in Monday morning’s first round and 18-over 308 in the second round to head into Tuesday’s final round at 35-over 611. Southeastern Louisiana leads the field at 7-over 583 with Sam Houston State (12-over 588) and ULM (18-over 594) rounding out the top three. Southeastern Louisiana’s Philipp Westermann, Sam Houston State’s Scott Kelly and Missouri State’s Will Hogan lead the 90-player field at 2-under 142.

Kim sits seven strokes back of the lead at 5-over 149. After a first-round, 4-over 76, he improved his score by three shots with a 1-over 73 in the afternoon.

Junior Michael Yiu is tied for 50th after carding a 74-80—154 (+10). Sophomore Jordan Lee and first-year Brandon Jowers are tied for 57th at 11-over 155. Lee had a 5-over 77 in the first and a 6-over 78 in the second. Jowers improved his score by five strokes, shooting 80-75—155 (+11). Jowers is tied for fifth in par 5 scoring with a 4.63 (-3) average.

Senior Brendan Doyle shot a 6-over 78 in the first round but withdrew from play in the second round. Doyle had done well on the par 4s as he was sixth with a 4.10 (+1) average.

Tuesday’s final round began with an 8 a.m. (Central Time) shotgun start.
