Round 1 Results | Round 2 Tee Times

GALLOWAY, N.J. -- On a windy Friday at Galloway National Golf Club, the Columbia men’s golf team hung tough, shooting a first-round 312 to head into the second round in second place and just two strokes out of the lead.

The Lions shot 28-over 312 on the par-71, 6,606-yard course. Columbia was the only team with four golfers in the 70s. Dartmouth leads the field at 26-over 310 and Harvard is third at 33-over 317.

Junior Michael Yiu is in third place after shooting 5-over 76 and sits just three shots back of Penn’s Scott Williams and Dartmouth’s Peter Williamson, who lead the 40-golfer field at 2-over 73.. He had a strong front nine shooting 1-over 36, but carded a 4-over 40 on the back. Yiu birdied holes no. 8, 15 and 17. Yiu played his best golf on the par 3s, leading the field with a 3.00 (E) average on those holes. The par 4s were where he struggled, posting a 4.44 (+4) average.

Sophomore Jordan Lee is tied for seventh after shooting 7-over 78. He carded a 3-over 38 on the front nine and 4-over 40 on the back. Lee was at his best on the par 4s, ranking second in the field with a 4.22 (+2) average.

Senior Brendan Doyle and sophomore Andrew Kim are tied for 11th after carding 8-over 79s. Doyle was 4-over 39 on the front and 4-over 40 on the back. He had birdies on holes 15 and 17 and was strong on the par 3s (1-over, 3.20 average) and par 5s (1-over 5.25 average). Kim was 3-over 38 on the front nine and 5-over 41 on the back. He birdied the second hole and was at his best on the par 3s (1-over, 3.20 average).

Junior Ford Fischer is tied for 32nd after shooting 15-over 86. He shot 6-over 41 on the front nine and 9-over 45 on the back.

In Saturday’s second round, the Lions will b in the final groups with Dartmouth. Fischer starts from the first tee at 1:15 with Doyle, Kim, Lee and Yiu following in nine-minute intervals.
