NEW YORK - The Columbia men's golf team will head to New Haven this Saturday and Sunday to compete in the Macdonald Cup hosted by Yale. The tournament begins with 18 holes Saturday, Sept. 29 and continues Sunday, Sept. 30, with the final 18 holes.

The Course at Yale, famously designed by USGA co-founder Charles Blair Macdonald, will serve as the host for the two-day event. In 2010, Golf Week ranked The Course at Yale as the top campus course in the nation. The course has historically challenged even the best teams and will do the same for this year's 14-team field.

Columbia will look to improve upon its eighth-place finish at last year's Macdonald Cup. Jordan Lee, Michael Yiu, Andrew Kim and Ford Fischer all competed last year for the Lions, finishing in the top-40 as individuals.

Columbia has competed twice this fall, falling in a dual match against Army, 7-4, and then placing 15th at The McLaughlin. Lee paced the Lions at The McLaughlin with a 31st-place finish.

Following the Macdonald Cup, the Lions will head to Chicago, Ill. Oct. 6-7 to compete at the John Dallio Memorial, before concluding fall play at the Big 5 Invitational in Philadelphia, Pa. Oct. 13-14.
