SAN ANTONIO – The first round of the NCAA Regional in San Antonio at the Briggs Ranch Golf Club came to a close Thursday afternoon with Columbia tied with VCU for 12th, scoring 300 on the day.

Sophomore Harrison Shih was the top finisher for Columbia after the first 18 holes, scoring a one-over 73 to head to the club house tied for 24th. Junior Brandon Jowers finished just two shots back of his teammate, turning in a 75 to end the day tied for 44th.

Senior Andrew Kim and first-year Tharusyan Pillay each carded four-over 76’s to stand in a tie for 57th after round one. First-year Christopher Chu rounded out the Lions’ lineup with a 78 to come in tied for 69th.

No. 6 Georgia holds the team lead after the opening round, scoring a 281, four strokes ahead of College of Charleston. Round two begins at 9 a.m. at Briggs Ranch.
