Women’s Golf Concludes Regular Season With Fourth-Place Showing at Brown Bear Invite
BARRINGTON, R.I. – The Columbia women’s golf team played its final round of competitive golf prior to the Ivy League Championships Monday at the Brown Bear Invitational. Anchored by a fourth-place finish by Michelle Piyapattra, the Lions finished in fourth as a team playing at the par-72, 6,068-yard Rhode Island Country Club.
Piyapattra improved three strokes on her opening round, scoring a 73 Monday to finish with a combined 149. The tally was just two strokes off Jennifer Neville’s winning score of 147. Neville beat out Boston University’s Kristyna Pavlickova and Yale’s Sun Gyoung Pak in a playoff to take medalist honors.
Jane Dong mirrored her first round score of 78 on Monday, finishing with a combined score of 156 to tie for 14th. First-year Spenser Krut put up an 81 in the final round, finishing four strokes back of Dong in a tie for 23rd.
As a team the Lions tallied team scores of 315-312—627 to finish just four strokes off of third-place Harvard. Yale captured the team title with a two-round score of 604.
The Lions will take the next nine days to prepare for the Ivy League Championships set to be played April 26-28 at Trump National in Bedminster, N.J.
