PINEHURST, N.C. – Rising senior Michelle Piyapattra wrapped up competition at the 111th Women’s North & South Amateur Championship with a semifinals showing at the historic match play event at the Pinehurst Country Club.
Piyapattra, a two-time first team All-Ivy League player and the 2012 Ivy League Player of the Year, opened the tournament with a 2-up victory over Oregon freshman Cathleen Santoso.
In the quarterfinals, rising Stanford sophomore, and the top seed in the tournament, Mariah Stackhouse challenged Piyapattra threw a tough 18 holes, but the Columbia standout picked up the 1-up victory.
Piyapattra continued her strong play in the semifinals, but Mississippi State’s Ally McDonald was able to capture a 2 and 1 win. McDonald would go on to win the tournament, 3 and 2, over Orlando native Yueer Cindy Feng.
