Women’s Golf Leading the Pack at the Monterey Bay Invitational After Round One

MONTEREY, Calif. – Lisa Combs and Rachel Shi are tied for second, as the Columbia Lions lead the way by eight strokes at the Monterey Bay Invitational.

Combs and Shi opened play at Del Monte Golf Course shooting 75s in through the first 18 holes. Both of them are just one stroke off the individual leader, Bethany Darrough from Central Oklahoma.

Sophomore Monique Ishikawa finished her opening round one stroke shy of Combs and Shi, posting a 76 to stand fifth. First-year Jackie Chulya also cracked the top-10, finishing tied for sixth after shooting a 77. Camilla Vik wrapped up the Columbia lineup tied 13th after shooting an 81.

Columbia also had two individuals in action. Senior Jane Dong posted a 75 and is tied with teammates Combs and Shi for second, while Joanna Henry shot an 87 and is tied for 26th.
