Women’s Golf in Second after Round One of Pirate Invitational

BEDMINSTER, N.J. – Led by a 76 from senior Michelle Piyapattra, the Columbia women’s golf team completed the opening round of the Seton Hall Pirate Invitational in second place, just two strokes behind leader Princeton (322-320).

Piyapattra, who stands tied for fourth, is joined in the top 10 by first-year Rachel Shi. Shi carded an opening round score of 80 and will start Sunday tied for 10th.

Junior Lisa Combs entered the clubhouse tied for 16th, just one stroke behind Shi with an 81. Sophomore Monique Ishikawa completed the first 18 holes tied for 33rd, shooting an 81. Senior Jane Dong rounded out the Lions’ lineup with a 91, tied for 68th.

Playing as an individual, first-year Jackie Chulya matched Shi with an 80 and is also tied for 10th.

The final round of the Pirate Invitational at Trump National will commence with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Sunday morning.
