PRINCETON, N.J. -- First-year Michelle Piyapattra fired a final-round 73 and finished in third place for the Columbia women's golf team at the Princeton Invitational on Sunday afternoon. Piyapattra closed out the tournament at 221, three strokes behind Princeton's Kelly Shon for second place. As a team, the Lions finished in seventh at 938.

Piyapattra was solid in all facets of her game over the three-round tournament, ranking in the top 15 individually in par-3 scoring (T-2nd at E), par-4 scoring (T-4th at +5), par-5 scoring (T-13th at E) and in pars (5th at 35). The third-place finish marks the second consecutive tournament that Piyapattra was the top Lion finisher, as she tied for 21st at the season-opening Wolverine Invitational last weekend.

Junior Robin Lee had three consecutive sub-80 rounds and tied for 26th at 232. First-year Jane Dong closed at 241 to place in a tie for 40th, while junior Lynda Kwon was three strokes behind Dong at 244. Sophomore Ashley Zambito was the final Columbia competitor and totaled a 253 over 54 holes.

Led by medalist Seo Hee Moon, Yale won the team championship by three strokes over Princeton. Moon concluded her tournament shooting 68-71 over the final two rounds to secure the individual title.

Columbia will return to action on Oct. 2-3 at the Nittany Lion Invitational, hosted by Penn State.
