BANDON, Ore. -- After a highly successful season that saw her become just the second Columbia women's golfer to take home medalist honors at an Ivy League Championship, rising sophomore Michelle Piyapattra has continued playing at a high level this summer.
Piyapattra was one of 155 amateur golfers who qualified to compete in the 35th United States Women's Amateur Public Links Championship, set to begin on June 27.
Piyapattra shot a 74 in the qualifying stage, held at Goose Creek Golf Club in Mira Loma, Calif., to become one of 14 golfers to automatically qualify for the Publinks tournament.
Two 18-hole rounds of stroke play will conclude on Tuesday, June 28, with the top 64 golfers advancing into a match-play format to determine the champion.
