Piyapattra Tied for Fifth After First Day of Wolverine Invitational

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- First-year Michelle Piyapattra put together an impressive collegiate debut on Saturday, firing an opening-round 73 at the Wolverine Invitational. Piyapattra carded a birdie and three bogeys on her steady round and is tied for fifth after 36 holes.

The Lions as a team stand in 15th place at 645, four shots behind Xavier. Florida International paces the 17-team field at 593, while Augusta State stands in second place at 609.

First-year Jane Dong currently sits in 70th position at 163, while junior Lynda Kwon is tied for 73rd at 166. Sophomore Ashley Zambito and junior Robin Lee rounded out the Columbia competitors at 167 and 170, respectively.

Min Yean Tan of Michigan leads the 90-player field by a stroke at 146.

The second and final day of the Wolverine Invitational will take place on Sunday, Sept. 12.
