Women's Golf Improves on Final Day of Nittany Lion Invitational
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- First-year Michelle Piyapattra shot her third consecutive round of 75 to finish in eighth place individually, and the Columbia University women's golf team shaved three strokes off its first- and second-round scores on the final day of the Nittany Lion Invitational, hosted by Penn State. Three Lions broke 80 on the day as the team shot 312.
Piyapattra ranked second out of the field of 94 in pars over the 54 holes with 40, and finished tied for fifth in par-4 scoring at 4.17. Classmate Jane Dong was the next best finisher for Columbia, as her final-round 76 propelled her into a tie for 47th. Junior Lynda Kwon was the third member of the trio that broke 80 on Sunday, as she fired a 78 to close at 239.
The Lions will conclude their fall season on Oct. 16-17 at the Harvard Invitational in Cambridge, Mass.
