Dong Earns Spot on All-Ivy League Second Team; Women’s Golf Finishes Fourth at Ivy League Championship

BEDMINSTER, N.J. – The Columbia women’s golf team closed out the 2013 Ivy League Championship with a fourth place finish on Sunday at Trump National Golf Course following a third round cumulative score of 309. Jane Dong led the Lions throughout the tournament as the junior finished in a tie for seventh place to earn second team All-Ivy League honors.

Columbia, entering the final round in fifth place, stroked its way to third place in day three’s action as the Lions were the only team to have all five golfers score above 80.

Dong, Monique Ishikawa and Spenser Krut each carded five-over par at 77 in the final round to lead the Lions. Michelle Piyapattra completed the day at six-over par, 38-40--78 to finish the tournament a tie for 12th, narrowly missing a nod to the All-Ivy second team, while Lilette Mocio scored a 36-43--79 to finish 16th overall.

Dong carded a three-day score of 14-over par, 79-74-77--230 to finish seventh and land a spot on the All-Ivy League second team.

Harvard won the tournament with a score of 909, defeating second-place Princeton by just one stroke, marking the closest decision in the Ivy League Championship since 1998. The Lions completed the three-round tournament with a score of 944.

Princeton’s Kelly Shon was named the Ivy League Player of the Year after finishing two-over par at 73-72-72-73--218.
