Women’s Golf Returns to Trump National for Pirate Invitational

NEW YORK – The Columbia women’s golf team will be in action for the first time since winning the Monterey Bay Invitational this weekend, competing in the Seton Hall Pirate Invitational at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, N.J.

The 18-team field will compete in 36 holes, 18 on Saturday and Sunday. Each day will begin with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. The teams competing include: Bucknell, Boston University, Brown, Central Connecticut State, William & Mary, Columbia, Dartmouth, Hofstra, LIU-Brooklyn, Princeton, Rutgers, Sacred Heart, Seton Hall (A & B), Siena, St. John’s, Penn and Yale.

The par-72 Trump National Course was the site of the 2013 Ivy League Championships where the Lions finished fourth. Senior Jane Dong finished that tournament tied for seventh to earn a spot on the All-Ivy League second team.

Dong and the rest of the Lions are coming off a triumphant victory at the Monterey Bay Invitational at the Del Monte Golf Club in California. Dong finished third at the tournament, just behind Monique Ishikawa and Rachel Shi who finished as the top medalist and runner-up, respectively. Lisa Combs and Jackie Chulya rounded out a complete top-five finish by Columbia golfers.
