PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. - Senior women's tennis player Nicole Bartnik won the first set of her second round match against USC's Zoe Scandalis, but would fall in three sets Friday.

Bartnik jumped out on the fourth-seeded Scandalis with a 6-3 win in the opening set, but the USC sophomore came back to win the next two sets by the identical score to advance to the quarterfinals.

Bartnik will return to the east coast to prepare for the ITA Northeast Regionals, slated for Oct. 19-23 in West Point, N.Y.
