PHILADELPHIA - The Columbia women's tennis team continued a strong start to the season in the first rounds of the 17th annual Cissie Leary Tournament. Four different Lions will compete for a chance to play in the finals on Sunday.

Two Columbia doubles partners are set to face off in the semi finals of the doubles main draw. The No. 29 duo of Bianca Sanon and Kanika Vaidya will be playing against Sivan Krems (Princeton) and Katherine Whiteaway (Penn State) following an 8-5 victory over Penn's pair of Kana Daniel and Jaime Yapp-Shino. Crystal Leung and Tina Jiang will face Cornell in a semi finals match.

Tiana Takenaga and Laura Wiley each played their ways into the quarterfinals of singles flight B.

The Lions will complete the final day of action on Sunday. Columbia is one of 15 schools participating in the tournament. The Lions are joined by three other Ivy League schools in Cornell, Princeton and host Penn, as well as Akron, Bowdoin, Delaware, Drexel, Maryland, Penn State, Rhode Island, Richmond, St. John’s and Temple.
