No. 37 Women’s Tennis Drops Season Finale at No. 58 Princeton

PRINCETON, N.J. – Despite a valiant effort Sunday afternoon, the No. 37 Columbia women’s tennis team lost its season finale at No. 58 Princeton, 6-1.

The Lions looked to be in control early on, as Tina Jiang and Crystal Leung cruised to an 8-1 win in the No. 2 doubles contest. Unfortunately, Princeton battled back and took the remaining two matches by 8-3 scores to earn the doubles point.

Dorothy Tang gave Princeton a 2-0 lead with a victory in the No. 5 match, but Columbia fired back with a win in the No. 3 match. Jiang bounced back from a first set loss to take the final two against Emily Hahn, 6-3, 6-2, making it a 2-1 score.

The Tigers though, were able to seal the win with victories at No. 4 and No. 1, clinching the Ivy League title.

At-large team selections for the NCAA Championships will be announced on the evening of April 29, with the individual field being released on April 30 at 6 p.m.
