NEW YORK - Seniors Alex Black from the baseball team and Nicole Bartnik of women's tennis have been named Columbia Student-Athletes of the Month for April after guiding their respective teams to Ivy League Championships.

Black hit .391 with three homers, six doubles and 16 RBI in 20 games during the month. He is currently riding a streak of 17 straight games of reaching base safely and posted an on-base percentage of .523. Named the Ivy League Player of the Week on May 1, Black batted .450 with a .560 on-base percentage and earned a save on the mound to help the Lions clinch the regular season conference title.

Bartnik went a perfect 6-0, all against league opponents, playing in the No. 1 singles position to help the tennis program secure its first ever co-Ivy League Championship. She has not lost an Ivy League match in the past two years (13-0) and ended the regular season ranked as the No. 64 player in the nation.
