NEW YORK - The No. 51 Columbia women's tennis team will bring its three-match homestand to a close this Friday with a 3 p.m. match at the Dick Savitt Tennis Center against local rival Fordham.

The Lions are in the midst of a three-match win streak that has featured 6-1 wins over Maryland, Akron and Stony Brook. Columbia has lost just once since Feb. 3, winning five of its last six contests.

Kanika Vaidya has turned an excellent fall campaign into a remarkable dual season. The first-year has a 7-1 singles mark and is 6-1 in doubles matches. When paired with teammate Bianca Sanon, the duo is 5-0 and ranked No. 28 in the nation. Sophomore Crystal Leung has had similar success this spring, holding an undefeated 7-0 singles record and a 5-1 mark in doubles competition. The Houston, Texas native is 3-0 at both the No. 3 and 4 spots and is 11-2 dating back to the fall.

As a team, the Lions are 30-15 in singles matches this spring and a combined 15-4 during doubles action.

Fordham makes the short trek from the Bronx carrying a 3-4 record. The Rams' match against Vassar originally scheduled for Wednesday, March 6 was cancelled. Prior to that, Fordham split a road swing, falling at Massachusetts, 6-1, but topping Saint Joseph's, 5-2.

Anika Novacek, the Rams' No. 6, leads the team with a 5-2 singles record. Julie Leong, who has played each dual match at No. 5, is the only other Fordham student-athlete with a singles mark above .500 at 4-3.  In doubles, the Rams as a squad are a combined 10-11, with the pairing of Leong and Angelika Dabu the only duo with a winning record at 4-3.

After Friday's match, the Lions will have 10 days off before heading to Texas for three matches from March18-23.
