NEW YORK - The defending Ivy League Champions, the Columbia women's tennis team will open the fall 2013 season this weekend, hosting the Columbia Invitational Friday, Sept. 13 through Sunday, Sept. 15.

The Lions will welcome Amherst, St. John's and Penn to the Dick Savitt Tennis Center for three days of competition. The Columbia Invitational will feature four draws of singles competition, as well as two doubles draws over the course of the weekend.

Columbia is coming off the best season in program history. The Lions played their way to a Ivy League title, marking their first in program history.

Despite the loss of two-time Ivy League Player of the Year, Nicole Bartnik, the Lions return seven letterwinners and welcome four new standouts to the 2013-14 squad.

Up next, Columbia will head to the Cissie Leary Invitational from Sept. 20-22 in Philadelphia, Pa.
