NEW YORK- It was Senior Day for the No. 37 women’s tennis at the Dick Savitt Tennis Center on Friday, April 18 when they cruised past Penn, 5-0. Seniors Tiana Takenaga, Ioana Alecsiu and Bianca Sanon were honored at the match.

Sanon and Kanika Vaidya kicked off the doubles competition, flying through their match to win 8-0. Tina Jiang and Crystal Leung battled back from a 4-5 deficit to clinch the doubles point with an 8-6 victory at the No. 2 position.

The Lions cruised to another victory taking the necessary singles points in straight sets. Jiang burned up the No. 3 match finishing, 6-0, 6-0, before all other matches completed their first set. Vaidya was the next to finish with a score of 6-3, 6-1 in the top spot against Sol Eskenazi. Sanon capped off Senior Day by clinching the win for the Lions in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1, against Kana Daniel in the No. 2 match.

Leung and and Takenaga also notched singles victories to push the score to 6-0 for the Lions.

Columbia heads to New Jersey to take on Princeton for their final match of the season on Sunday. A victory would give the Lions a share of their second straight Ivy League title.
