The second annual Giving Day marked another tremendous success for Columbia Athetics, which nearly doubled its fundraising efforts from 2012.

Receiving just under 3,000 gifts, Athletics raised over $1.8 million, marking 25% of the total dollars received on Giving Day, and topped last years efforts of $982,763. Athletics finished second only to, in terms of dollar total, Columbia College.

Athletics won a portion ($55,384) of the Giving Day $250,000 incentive fund, provided by a group of University Trustees.

Athletics also won FOUR of the "hourly" Giving Day challenges: Columbia Athletics had the most donors between 4-5 p.m. to earn a $5,000 prize and a random donor was selected between 5-6 p.m. to gain another $2,000. Between 8-9 p.m., Athletics had the highest total of graduates from the last decade donate to pick up $5,000 and also boasted the most international donors to add another $5,000 to its total.

In just 24 hours, Columbia University totaled 9,759 gifts that brought in more than $7.8 million.
