NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Columbia volleyball team dropped a tough decision at Yale on Friday night in Lee Amphitheater by set scores of 19-25, 11-25, 20-25.

Sophomore Lucy Tilton led the Columbia offense with nine kills, swinging at a .389 clip. Junior Molly Winger paced the Lions’ defensive unit with 11 digs on the night. With the loss, Columbia fell to 5-15 overall with a 3-8 Ivy League mark.

First-place Yale (16-4, 10-1 Ivy League) won its 31st consecutive home match thanks to a match-high 15 kills and .542 hitting percentage from first-year Brittani Steinberg.

The Lions took an early 3-1 lead in the first set, but Yale slowly trimmed its deficit to knot the score midway through at 12-all. The Bulldogs stayed on top the rest of the way and carried momentum into the next sets to notch the win.
