Waverly Neer, So., Women’s Track & Field, Undecided (Russiaville Ind.)

Men tennis along with men and women’s track & field each posted two selections to lead the way.

Men’s tennis sophomores Winston Lin and Ashok Narayana were two of the Lions top players, helping Columbia post a 15-7 overall record and a 5-2 mark in Ivy League play. Lin secured first team All-Ivy League honors after picking up 24 victories in the No. 1 singles position. Narayana was chosen for the All-Ivy League first team for his work in No. 1 doubles play in addition to a second team nod in singles play.

Juniors John Gregorek and Harrison McFann, who both earned Academic All-Ivy League status last spring, were standouts for the men’s track & field squad this spring. Gregorek won a pair of championships at the Ivy League Outdoor Heptagonal Championships, taking home the steeplechase crown and running with the victorious 4x800-meter relay squad. McFann capped a strong campaign with a ninth place finish at the NCAA Outdoor Championships on his way to being selected as a second team All-American by the USTFCCCA.

In women’s track & field, junior Marvellous Iheukwumere and Waverly Neer continued to establish themselves as forces in the Ivy League. Iheukwumere crossed the tape first in both the 100 and 200-meter dashes at Heps and earned CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-District I first team honors for her work on the track and in the classroom. Neer is the Ivy League Champion in the 5,000-meter run and was named second team All-America after a 16th place performance at the NCAA Championships.

Senior Nicole Bartnik from women’s tennis completed a brilliant career this spring, leading Columbia to its first ever Ivy League Championship. Bartnik went undefeated in conference tilts for the second straight season and was named Ivy League Player of the Year. This marks the third consecutive year she has been selected Academic All-Ivy League.

Senior Nikki Bourassa competed in the women’s rowing varsity eight all season and helped the Lions to one of the best years in program history. She was honored with a CRCA Mid-Atlantic Region first team selection and was named a CRCA National Scholar-Athlete.

Women’s golf senior Jane Dong captured seventh place at the Ivy League Championship to earn a spot on the All-Ivy League second team and was second on the team with a 79.0 scoring average per round.

Baseball’s Nick Ferraresi helped guide the Lions to an Ivy League title and the NCAA Regionals this spring. The senior captain hit .278 with three homers and 26 RBI.
