Thomas Cornacchia, Susan K. Feagin Honored as Varsity C Alumni Award Winners
NEW YORK – Thomas Cornacchia ’85CC and Susan K. Feagin ’74GS were presented with the Athletics Alumni Awards at the 93rd Annual Varsity C Celebration on Tuesday evening.
The honor is bestowed to an ardent and loyal alumnus or alumna who has been an outstanding contributor to Columbia Athletics for many years.
Cornacchia, a four-year member of the heavyweight rowing team in the early 1980’s, has fashioned an incredible career with Goldman Sachs, where he is a partner and managing director.
Throughout that time, Cornacchia has never forgotten his alma mater.
He is a member of the King’s Crown Rowing Association, the Rowing Advisory Committee and established a key endowment fund for Columbia rowing in 2011. A 2013 recipient of the John Jay Award, Cornacchia also served on the Columbia Campaign for Athletics Leadership Committee and has been a key contributor to Columbia Athletics on Giving Day the past two years.
Feagin, without a doubt, has been one of the best ambassadors Columbia University has ever known. In 1982, she raised $200 million as campaign director for the Arts and Sciences. After setting fundraising records at Harvard and the University of Michigan, Feagin returned to Columbia for good in 2002 when she became the school’s Executive Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations and then Special Advisor to President Lee C. Bollinger.
Upon her return, she has undertaken the 250th Anniversary Celebration, the opening of the Alumni Center and The Columbia Campaign, three of the largest and transformational events in Columbia history. With her leadership, Feagin’s support and encouragement led to Columbia Athletics raising a record-setting $100 million to reach its goal.
