In his current position, Poolman helps manage the operations of the Lions’ national champion archery, two-time national champion men’s and women’s fencing, men’s and women’s golf, men’s and women’s squash, men’s and women’s swimming and diving and wrestling programs. Poolman came to Morningside Heights in 2010 as the Assistant Director of Athletics Events and was promoted twice, most recently to Assistant Athletics Director for Athletics Events in January 2013. During that time, he oversaw planning and logistics for home varsity athletics contests, supervised student, and part-time staff members, and assisted the Athletics COO and CFO with purchase card tracking and approval related to team travel, special events, and sports program spending, among other responsibilities.

Before Columbia, Poolman worked in the athletics department at the United States Merchant Marine Academy from 2007-10, where he gained experience as an events coordinator, operations specialist, equipment manager and taught physical education classes.
